Sin embargo, s\u00f3lo dos minerales -celestita y estroncianita- contienen estroncio en cantidades suficientes para que su recuperaci\u00f3n sea pr\u00e1ctica, y estos minerales se encuentran predominantemente en rocas sedimentarias. El estroncio es un elemento met\u00e1lico de color amarillo plateado. Pertenece al grupo de los metales alcalinot\u00e9rreos. De los dos, la celestita es m\u00e1s com\u00fan en yacimientos econ\u00f3micos. Su estructura es similar a la de la barita, el mineral de sulfato de bario. Parte del estroncio se utiliza para fabricar imanes especiales llamados imanes cer\u00e1micos de ferrita. El estroncio se utiliza para fabricar compuestos que se aplican a los tubos de cristal de los televisores en color.
