El titanio es resistente a la corrosi\u00f3n en agua de mar, agua regia y cloro.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3>Relaci\u00f3n con la miner\u00eda<\/h3>\n<p>El titanio es el noveno elemento m\u00e1s abundante en la corteza terrestre (0,63% en masa) y el s\u00e9ptimo metal m\u00e1s abundante. Est\u00e1 presente en forma de \u00f3xidos en la mayor\u00eda de las rocas \u00edgneas, en los sedimentos derivados de ellas, en los seres vivos y en las masas de agua naturales. De los 801 tipos de rocas \u00edgneas analizadas por el Servicio Geol\u00f3gico de Estados Unidos, 784 conten\u00edan titanio. Su proporci\u00f3n es aproximadamente de 0,5 a 1,5%.<\/p>\n<p>Los minerales comunes que contienen titanio son la anatasa, la brookita, la ilmenita, la perovskita, el rutilo y la titanita (esfena). La akaogiita es un mineral extremadamente raro que consiste en di\u00f3xido de titanio. De estos minerales, s\u00f3lo el rutilo y la ilmenita tienen importancia econ\u00f3mica, pero incluso ellos son dif\u00edciles de encontrar en altas concentraciones. En 2011 se extrajeron unos 6,0 y 0,7 millones de toneladas de esos minerales, respectivamente. Existen importantes yacimientos de ilmenita con titanio en Australia occidental, Canad\u00e1, China, India, Mozambique, Nueva Zelanda, Noruega, Sierra Leona, Sud\u00e1frica y Ucrania. En 2011 se produjeron unas 186.000 toneladas de esponja met\u00e1lica de titanio, principalmente en China (60.000 t), Jap\u00f3n (56.000 t), Rusia (40.000 t), Estados Unidos (32.000 t) y Kazajist\u00e1n (20.700 t). Se calcula que las reservas totales de titanio superan los 600 millones de toneladas.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3>Utiliza<\/h3>\n<p>El titanio puede alearse con hierro, aluminio, vanadio y molibdeno, entre otros elementos, para producir aleaciones resistentes y ligeras para la industria aeroespacial (motores a reacci\u00f3n, misiles y naves espaciales), militar, procesos industriales (productos qu\u00edmicos y petroqu\u00edmicos, plantas desalinizadoras, pasta y papel), automoci\u00f3n, agricultura (granjas), pr\u00f3tesis m\u00e9dicas, implantes ortop\u00e9dicos, instrumentos y limas dentales y endod\u00f3nticos, implantes dentales, art\u00edculos deportivos, joyer\u00eda, tel\u00e9fonos m\u00f3viles y otras aplicaciones.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div id=\"ultimate-heading-80046a5ef2b29e9be\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-80046a5ef2b29e9be uvc-6891\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-80046a5ef2b29e9be h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:bold;color:#1e73be;\">Proceso de extracci\u00f3n de titanio<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<h3>Proceso de separaci\u00f3n por gravedad y flotaci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n<p>El proceso de separaci\u00f3n por gravedad se utiliza principalmente para minas de titanio a gran escala con granularidad gruesa. Una vez triturada, la mina de titanio se env\u00eda al separador magn\u00e9tico y, a continuaci\u00f3n, al conducto en espiral para su posterior separaci\u00f3n. A continuaci\u00f3n, la separaci\u00f3n por flotaci\u00f3n para una granularidad superior.<\/p>\n<h3>Proceso magn\u00e9tico y de flotaci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n<p>Para ahorrar los costes de separaci\u00f3n por flotaci\u00f3n, se utilizar\u00e1 la separaci\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica en el primer paso, la mina de titanio de granularidad fina se enviar\u00e1 a la separaci\u00f3n por flotaci\u00f3n.
