Les amphibolites contiennent tr\u00e8s peu ou pas de quartz. Le terme \"amphibole\" ne d\u00e9signe pas un seul min\u00e9ral, mais un groupe de min\u00e9raux. La plupart appartiennent au syst\u00e8me cristallin monoclinique, mais certains appartiennent au syst\u00e8me cristallin orthorhombique. Il s'agit de min\u00e9raux silicat\u00e9s contenant des mol\u00e9cules de SiO4. Les groupes SiO4 sont reli\u00e9s entre eux par des cha\u00eenes doubles.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div id=\"ultimate-heading-64896a2146c0bc147\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-64896a2146c0bc147 uvc-7810\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-64896a2146c0bc147 h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:bold;color:#1e73be;\">Utilisations<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>L'amphibolite est tr\u00e8s dure et peut \u00eatre polie. La combinaison de sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre polie, de sa couleur sombre et de sa texture a fait de l'amphibolite une pierre de taille populaire dans la construction. Elle est utilis\u00e9e comme pav\u00e9 et comme placage ou parement sur les b\u00e2timents (\u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur comme \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur).<\/p>\n<p>Elle est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9e comme pierre concass\u00e9e pour les applications habituelles de pierre concass\u00e9e, telles que la construction de routes et de voies ferr\u00e9es. Dans ce cas, elle est utilis\u00e9e localement, pr\u00e8s de la source d'amphibolite. Cela permet de r\u00e9duire le co\u00fbt du transport de pierres non indig\u00e8nes provenant d'autres sources.<br \/>\nLes gemmologues et les lapidaires ont d\u00e9couvert que certaines roches d'amphibolite produisent un effet de brillance lorsqu'elles sont polies. Ils utilisent des morceaux d'amphibolite arrondis et polis pour fabriquer divers bijoux.<\/p>\n<p>Substituts et sources alternatives<br \/>\nIl existe des alternatives presque illimit\u00e9es pour les diverses applications de pierre concass\u00e9e pour lesquelles l'amphibolite est occasionnellement utilis\u00e9e. Tout type de roche, locale ou import\u00e9e, qui peut \u00eatre facilement extraite, concass\u00e9e et transport\u00e9e peut remplacer l'amphibolite. Aux \u00c9tats-Unis, le calcaire et le granit repr\u00e9sentent ensemble plus de 80% de toutes les roches concass\u00e9es consomm\u00e9es annuellement. Comme indiqu\u00e9 ci-dessus, l'amphibolite est utilis\u00e9e localement, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 elle est facile \u00e0 extraire, ce qui r\u00e9duit les co\u00fbts de transport des roches en provenance d'autres r\u00e9gions.<\/p>\n<p>Il existe de nombreuses possibilit\u00e9s d'utiliser l'amphibolite comme pierre de taille. Le marbre, le granit et le quartzite, par exemple, peuvent tous \u00eatre polis et utilis\u00e9s comme rev\u00eatement \u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur et \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur des b\u00e2timents. Dans certains environnements, m\u00eame le gr\u00e8s peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour la construction de b\u00e2timents. En fin de compte, l'amphibolite est choisie pour la couleur, la texture et l'aspect g\u00e9n\u00e9ral qu'elle conf\u00e8re \u00e0 un b\u00e2timent.
