Dans la nature, on le trouve couramment en tant que m\u00e9tal \u00e0 de faibles niveaux dans la plupart des sols et \u00e0 des concentrations plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es associ\u00e9es \u00e0 certains minerais de cuivre, de plomb et de zinc. Le min\u00e9ral d'arsenic le plus courant est l'ars\u00e9nopyrite, un compos\u00e9 de fer, d'arsenic et de soufre.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div id=\"ultimate-heading-75426a21132e2df6f\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-75426a21132e2df6f uvc-7290\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-75426a21132e2df6f h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:bold;color:#1e73be;\">Relation avec l'exploitation mini\u00e8re<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>L'arsenic m\u00e9tal est tr\u00e8s rarement pr\u00e9sent \u00e0 l'\u00e9tat pur dans la nature. Le min\u00e9ral d'arsenic le plus courant est l'ars\u00e9nopyrite, un compos\u00e9 de fer, d'arsenic et de soufre. Plusieurs autres min\u00e9raux moins courants contiennent de l'arsenic, notamment l'orpiment, le realgar et l'enargite, qui sont des sulfures d'arsenic. La plupart de l'arsenic n'est pas obtenu \u00e0 partir d'un minerai d'arsenic, mais comme sous-produit du traitement des minerais d'or, d'argent, de cuivre et d'autres m\u00e9taux. Les lois environnementales exigent que l'arsenic soit extrait des minerais afin qu'il ne p\u00e9n\u00e8tre pas dans l'environnement sous forme de gaz, de fluides ou de solides dans les effluents.<\/p>\n<p>Des quantit\u00e9s importantes d'arsenic sont associ\u00e9es aux gisements de cuivre et d'or du Chili, des Philippines et de nombreux autres pays. Cependant, de nombreux pays produisent de l'arsenic comme sous-produit de la fusion des minerais m\u00e9talliques. La Chine est de loin le plus grand producteur, le Chili et le Maroc fournissant des quantit\u00e9s importantes, et une production moindre provenant d'une douzaine d'autres pays poss\u00e9dant des fonderies de m\u00e9taux.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00c9tats-Unis n'ont pas extrait d'arsenic depuis 1985 et importent tout l'arsenic m\u00e9tallique et les compos\u00e9s d'arsenic qu'ils consomment. Tr\u00e8s peu d'arsenic est recycl\u00e9, \u00e0 l'exception des d\u00e9chets des usines qui fabriquent des compos\u00e9s d'arsenic et des quantit\u00e9s limit\u00e9es d'arsenic m\u00e9tal r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de d\u00e9chets de semi-conducteurs \u00e0 base d'ars\u00e9niure de gallium (GaAs).<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div id=\"ultimate-heading-48516a21132e2dfab\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-48516a21132e2dfab uvc-3168\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-48516a21132e2dfab h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:bold;color:#1e73be;\">Utilisations<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>L'\u00e9l\u00e9ment m\u00e9tallique ne repr\u00e9sente qu'environ 5% de la consommation d'arsenic. La majeure partie de cette consommation est utilis\u00e9e pour allier (m\u00e9langer) l'arsenic au plomb, au cuivre ou \u00e0 d'autres m\u00e9taux pour des usages sp\u00e9cifiques. En tant que m\u00e9tallo\u00efde, l'arsenic est un semi-conducteur, comme le silicium. Cela signifie qu'il conduit une partie de l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 comme un m\u00e9tal, mais pas toute l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 qu'un v\u00e9ritable conducteur comme le cuivre conduirait. Par cons\u00e9quent, environ 1\/10 % d'arsenic est consomm\u00e9 dans la fabrication de semi-conducteurs \u00e0 base d'ars\u00e9niure de gallium utilis\u00e9s en \u00e9lectronique. Une partie de l'arsenic est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9e dans la fabrication du verre.<\/p>\n<p>La majeure partie de la consommation am\u00e9ricaine se fait sous la forme d'ars\u00e9niate de cuivre et de chromate (ACC), un produit chimique utilis\u00e9 comme conservateur du bois pour les poteaux t\u00e9l\u00e9phoniques, les piquets de cl\u00f4ture, les pilotis et les bois de fondation. Le CCA r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement la pourriture et \u00e9limine la destruction du bois par les termites, les fourmis et d'autres insectes. Toutefois, l'utilisation de l'ACC est progressivement abandonn\u00e9e aux \u00c9tats-Unis, ce qui devrait entra\u00eener une baisse importante du march\u00e9 de l'arsenic.<\/p>\n<p>Autrefois, l'utilisation la plus importante des compos\u00e9s d'arsenic \u00e9tait celle d'insecticides pulv\u00e9ris\u00e9s dans les champs et les vergers. Cette utilisation a totalement disparu dans la plupart des pays, en raison de la nature toxique des compos\u00e9s d'arsenic. La contamination par l'arsenic est un probl\u00e8me dans certaines eaux de puits et peut \u00eatre associ\u00e9e au drainage minier.<\/p>\n<p>L'arsenic n'est r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 dans aucun d\u00e9chet ni dans aucun programme de recyclage.
