Le cadmium pr\u00e9sente de nombreuses similitudes chimiques avec le zinc et est souvent r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 partir du minerai de zinc primaire, la sphal\u00e9rite. L'utilisation la plus importante du cadmium est la production de piles nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cad).<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div id=\"ultimate-heading-23116a211f1552658\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-23116a211f1552658 uvc-2985\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-23116a211f1552658 h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:bold;color:#1e73be;\">Relation avec l'exploitation mini\u00e8re<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>Le cadmium est rarement pr\u00e9sent dans la nature et provient le plus souvent de son \u00e9limination des m\u00e9taux de zinc au cours du processus de raffinage. Le cadmium est donc produit dans les pays o\u00f9 le zinc est raffin\u00e9, et pas n\u00e9cessairement dans les pays o\u00f9 le minerai de zinc est extrait. La Chine, le Japon et la Cor\u00e9e sont les principaux producteurs mondiaux, suivis du Mexique, des \u00c9tats-Unis, des Pays-Bas, de l'Inde, du Royaume-Uni, du P\u00e9rou et de l'Allemagne. Quinze autres pays produisent des quantit\u00e9s moindres.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div id=\"ultimate-heading-18886a211f155268d\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-18886a211f155268d uvc-7282\" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-18886a211f155268d h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:bold;color:#1e73be;\">Utilisations<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>L'utilisation la plus importante du cadmium est la production de piles nickel-cadmium (\"Ni-Cad\"). Environ les trois quarts du cadmium consomm\u00e9 annuellement sont utilis\u00e9s pour fabriquer des piles. Les piles nickel-cadmium sont rechargeables et sont largement utilis\u00e9es dans les t\u00e9l\u00e9phones portables, les outils \u00e9lectriques sans fil, les appareils photo, les ordinateurs portables et une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de produits m\u00e9nagers. Ces applications repr\u00e9sentent la majorit\u00e9 des piles Ni-Cad produites. Le reste repr\u00e9sente les piles utilis\u00e9es pour l'alimentation \u00e9lectrique d'urgence dans les chambres d'h\u00f4pital, pour les \u00e9clairages de secours, les centraux t\u00e9l\u00e9phoniques, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Cadmium is useful in a small number of other applications. Cadmium sulfide (also called cadmium yellow) is used as a paint pigment. Cadmium is used to make low-temperature melting alloys, such as solder and Wood\u2019s Metal for indoor sprinkler systems. The latter is an alloy of 50%Bi, 25%Pb, 12.5% Sn, and 12.5%Cd which melts at about 160 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of a very hot shower. Cadmium compounds are used both in black and white and color television tubes. It is used as a stabilizing compound in plastics.<\/p>\n<p>Le cadmium a \u00e9galement la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 physique de pouvoir absorber les neutrons. C'est pourquoi il est utilis\u00e9 dans les barres de contr\u00f4le des r\u00e9acteurs nucl\u00e9aires pour amortir la r\u00e9action nucl\u00e9aire et maintenir les r\u00e9actions de fission sous contr\u00f4le.<\/p>\n<p>La Chine est le plus grand consommateur de cadmium au monde, principalement pour la fabrication de batteries.
