Proses ini dapat dilakukan pada ukuran partikel sekasar 300 mm dan sehalus 500 \u03bcm dengan efisiensi pemisahan yang tinggi, tergantung pada karakteristik pembebasan mineral berharga. Pemisahan media padat juga disebut sebagai pemisahan media berat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Penerapan pabrik pemisahan media padat<\/strong><br \/>\nDMS dapat digunakan dalam industri perhiasan, karena tubuh berlian lebih padat daripada batu, dan juga dapat digunakan dalam industri bijih besi, karena hematit lebih padat daripada silika. Dalam industri batu bara, di mana kepadatan batu bara lebih kecil dari silika, juga dapat digunakan DMS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prinsip kerja teknologi DMS<\/strong><br \/>\nProses pemisahan medium berat bergantung pada medium dengan densitas spesifik (berat jenis) yang berada di antara densitas mineral yang ditargetkan untuk pemisahan. Proses persiapan umpan meliputi penghancuran\/pemecahan, pencucian\/penggosokan, pengecilan ukuran, dll.<\/p>\n<p>Bahan bijih mentah biasanya diperkecil ukurannya dengan menggunakan penghancur batu seperti penghancur kerucut, penghancur rahang, penghancur berputar, penghancur tumbukan. Berkat persiapannya, barang yang ditolak dibuang dan meminimalkan kebutuhan pemrosesan, mesin pemisah adalah jantung dari pabrik DMS.<br \/>\nAda dua jenis bejana pemisah DMS, yang statis, yaitu bejana penangas terbuka, biasanya digunakan untuk memisahkan partikel kasar, dengan menggunakan kecepatan pengendapan gravitasi alam; yang lain adalah tipe dinamis, biasanya digunakan untuk partikel yang lebih halus, memanfaatkan gaya sentrifugal yang memaksakan kecepatan pengendapan dalam bubur medium yang berat.<\/p>\n<p>Prinsip kerja siklon DMS mirip dengan prinsip kerja hidrosiklon pada umumnya. Bagian pertama dari layar digunakan untuk mengalirkan media dengan kepadatan tinggi.
