Hanya satu tambang di Bolivia yang merupakan tambang bismut primer; di negara lain, bismut merupakan produk sampingan dari penambangan logam lain. Hampir tidak ada yang menggunakan bismut logam murni. Mayoritas dikonsumsi dalam paduan bismut, dan dalam obat-obatan dan bahan kimia. Sisanya digunakan dalam keramik, cat, katalis, dan berbagai aplikasi kecil.<\/p>\n<p>Paduan bismut berguna untuk berbagai alasan:<\/p>\n<p>Bismut dan banyak paduannya sedikit memuai ketika membeku (membeku).
