Kelompok ini mencakup silikat aluminium soda, kalium, atau kapur. Ini adalah kelompok mineral yang paling melimpah di Bumi. Mereka menyumbang sekitar 60% batuan yang terpapar, serta tanah, lempung, dan sedimen yang tidak terkonsolidasi, dan merupakan komponen utama dalam skema klasifikasi batuan. Para pengolah feldspar melaporkan adanya perolehan produk sampingan berupa pasir mika dan silika.<\/p>\n<p>Feldspar ditambang dari badan granit besar (disebut pluton oleh para ahli geologi), dari pegmatit (terbentuk ketika tahap cairan terakhir dari granit yang mengkristal menjadi terkonsentrasi dalam kantong-kantong kecil yang kaya cairan dan uap yang memungkinkan pertumbuhan kristal yang sangat besar), dan dari pasir yang sebagian besar terdiri dari feldspar.<\/p>\n<p>Karena feldspar merupakan komponen yang sangat besar dari kerak bumi, maka diasumsikan bahwa pasokan feldspar lebih dari cukup untuk memenuhi permintaan dalam jangka waktu yang sangat lama. Tambang-tambang yang ada di seluruh dunia saat ini sudah cukup memenuhi kebutuhan feldspar mentah.<\/p>\n<p>Penambangan batuan keras untuk feldspar dilakukan dengan metode tambang terbuka, baik oleh pemilik tambang maupun kontraktor. Setelah bijih feldspar dibor dan diledakkan, pemecahan sekunder dilakukan dengan menggunakan bola jatuh konvensional. Bijih kemudian dimuat dengan sekop hidrolik ke dalam truk dan diangkut ke pabrik peremukan, yang bersebelahan dengan pabrik flotasi.<\/p>\n<p>Penggunaan: Feldspar digunakan untuk membuat peralatan makan dan ubin kamar mandi dan bangunan. Dalam produksi keramik dan kaca, feldspar digunakan sebagai fluks. Fluks adalah bahan yang menurunkan suhu leleh bahan lain, dalam hal ini kaca.<\/p>\n<p>Pengganti dan Sumber Alternatif<\/p>\n<p>Feldspar dapat digantikan oleh mineral lain dan campuran mineral yang memiliki sifat fisik yang serupa. Mineral yang dapat digunakan untuk menggantikan feldspar antara lain pirofilit, lempung, talk, dan campuran feldspar-silika (kuarsa).
