Altera a composi\u00e7\u00e3o do mineral. Ou seja, a malaquite transforma-se numa solu\u00e7\u00e3o de sulfato de cobre. O cobre met\u00e1lico (cobre esponja) pode ser obtido substituindo os i\u00f5es de cobre na solu\u00e7\u00e3o por limalhas de ferro.
