20TPH Clay Alluvial Gold Processing Plant Boosts Ghanaian Operation

Published time:19 enero 2026

In the heart of Ghana’s gold-rich terrain, a remarkable processing solution is delivering exceptional results. JXSC’s custom-designed 20-ton-per-hour clay alluvial gold processing plant combines robust engineering with intelligent mineral recovery principles. This case study demonstrates how our tailored approach addressed unique material challenges while achieving recovery rates of 85-90%, all without requiring on-site technical support from our team.

JXSC 20tph Clay Alluvial Gold Processing Plant in Ghana

JXSC has provided a complete set of processing plant machines & all accessories for a Ghana customer 20tph clay oro aluvial Processing Plant. The client has their own engineering team for setting up this plant, so no requirement for our engineer’s site service. While we offer the detailed layout design with base construction drawings, accordingly.

Client’s Mine Situation

The customer is processing alluvial gold with sticky clay and big stones, gold size mostly 0-6mm, and also has big nuggets below 20mm.

The Challenge: Sticky Clay Meets Rugged Terrain

Transitioning from the broader context to specific challenges, Ghana’s alluvial deposits presented two formidable obstacles:

  1. Problematic material composition: High clay content, causing washing difficulties.
  2. Variable particle sizes: Gold nuggets up to 20mm mixed with oversized waste rock.

“The sticky clay was wrapping around our old equipment like dough,” recalled the mine operator during initial consultations. This admission sparked the design of our comprehensive solution.

Like a perfectly choreographed dance, each piece of equipment performs its specialized role:

Stage 1: Intelligent Screening

En lavador trómel with hopper and 75mm grizzly bar: raw materials feed to the hopper by excavator, 75mm grizzly bar will sieve +75mm to waste pile, 0-75mm materials will go down to the trommel scrubber for washing and sieving 0-6mm and 6-20mm materials.

The 75mm grizzly bars atop our JXSC750 trommel scrubber act as the plant’s bouncer – rejecting oversized waste while permitting gold-bearing material to progress. The scrubber’s rotating drum then performs dual washing and classification functions.

Stage 2: Concentration Process

Here, the operation splits like diverging pathways:

1. 0-6mm fraction takes the express route through our STLB80 centrifugal concentrator(Concentrador centrífugo for concentrating the gold from 0-6mm materials of the trommel scrubber).

2. 6-20mm material cascades into the rugged 6-meter sluice box(Sluice box for recovering the gold from the tailings ofthe centrifugal concentrator and 6-20mm materials of the trommel scrubber).

3. Oversized rejects (>20mm) ride the belted conveyor to waste piles(Belt conveyor: for sending +20mm materials from the trommel scrubber to the waste pile).

Stage 3: Precision Refinement

En mesa vibrante for refining the 0-2mm gold concentrate from the centrifugal concentrator and sluice box. It serves as the plant’s master jeweler, elevating concentrate purity through precisely tuned vibration patterns. Water consumption is carefully balanced at 100m³/hour across all processes.

Customer Questions & Our Answers

① What is the particle size requirement for the feed ore?
The maximum feeding size of the trommel is 100mm; it has big waste stones over 100mm. The 100mm grizzly bar can be made on the hopper to remove the big waste stones

② What’s the difference between the trommel scrubber and the trommel screen?
The trommel scrubber is used for washing the raw materials with much sticky clay, and the trommel screen is used for washing the raw materials with normal sand and soil.

③ What’s the function of the centrifugal concentrator?
The centrifugal concentrator is for pre-concentrating the gold from the 0-2mm slurry of the hammer crusher.

④ What’s the function of the shaking table?
The shaking table for re-concentrating the gold concentrate from the centrifugal concentrator to reach a higher purity.

⑤ What gold recovery rate can be achieved?
The gravity recovery rate can reach 85–90%, final result will depend on the ore condition.

⑥ What’s the water consumption of the whole line of machines?
The total water consumption will need approximately 100 m3 per hour, mainly the backwash water for the centrifugal concentrator and feeding water for the trommel scrubber, shaking table, and sluice box.

⑦ Can you provide the civil foundation drawing of the complete machine line?
Once we receive your deposit payment, our engineer will design the detailed plant layout drawing, foundation drawing for you, and also each main machine’s drawing & machine operation manual. All the technical support will be provided to assist with the installation.

Measurable Results

Transitioning from technical details to operational outcomes:

  • Recovery Boost: Jumped from ~70% to consistent 85-90%
  • Throughput: Steady 20TPH despite clay challenges
  • Labor Savings: Automated processes reduced crew size by 30%

The client reported recovering multiple 10-18mm nuggets weekly that previously slipped through their manual washing systems.

Conclusion & Future Collaboration

As the Ghanaian sun sets on this success story, JXSC looks forward to replicating this model across West Africa. With detailed drawings, robust equipment, and clear operational guidelines, we’re proving that remote technical support can deliver exceptional results. “This plant works like it understands our deposit,” the client summarized – the highest praise an equipment provider can receive.
