50TPH Garnet Crushing & Screening Process Plant

Release time:18 July 2026

Known for its striking red hues and remarkable durability, garnet is a group of silicate minerals widely used in abrasives, jewelry, and industrial applications. With a hardness ranging from 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, garnet is valued for its toughness and diverse color spectrum.

Key Characteristics of Garnet

Chemical Composition

General formula: ( X_3Y_2(SiO_4)_3 )

    • X: ( Ca, Mg, Fe^{2+}, Mn )
    • Y: ( Al, Fe^{3+}, Cr, V )
    •

Hardness6.5–7.5 on Mohs scale (resistant to abrasion)

Luster: Vitreous to resinous

Key Sources: India, Australia, the U.S. (Idaho, New York), South Africa, Sri Lanka

Common Type

  • Almandine (deep red to brown) – ( Fe_3Al_2(SiO_4)_3 )
  • Pyrope (red to purple) – ( Mg_3Al_2(SiO_4)_3 )
  • Spessartine (orange to red-brown) – ( Mn_3Al_2(SiO_4)_3 )

Garnet Crushing and Screening Process Flow

1. Basic Process Framework

Objective: Process raw garnet ore into properly sized materials suitable for subsequent beneficiation operations.

  • Pre-processing
Pre-screen raw garnet ore to remove oversized waste rocks (>30 mm) and surface-adhered soil impurities.
  • Primary Crushing
Use jaw crushers for coarse crushing to reduce ore size to a range suitable for secondary crushing.
  • Secondary & Fine Crushing
Employ cone crushers or roll crushers to further break down particles, minimizing needle/flake-shaped grains and improving isotropy.
  • Grading & Screening
Separate crushed materials into specific size fractions via vibrating screens, directing each fraction to downstream processes.

2. Scenario-Specific Adaptations

Alluvial Garnet (Placer Deposits)

  • Skip crushing; feed raw ore directly into trommel scrubbers for clay removal.
  • Screen into two fractions: 0–8mm and 8–30mm, followed by precision classification.

Hard-Rock Garnet (Primary Deposits)

  • Add grinding post-primary crushing to achieve liberation size for mineral separation.
  • Proceed to fine-mesh screening for particle size control.

High-End Abrasive Garnet

  • Integrate shape optimization (e.g., vertical shaft impactors) post-crushing to enhance angularity and cubical grain formation.

3. Key Control Parameters

Particle Shape

Prioritize “jaw + roll crusher” configurations over hammer mills to reduce flaky particles (<15% by volume).

Screening Accuracy

    • Implement screen mesh wear monitoring to prevent oversized/subsized contamination.
    • Apply anti-static measures to minimize fine-particle blinding.

Size Compliance

    • Enforce strict multi-deck vibrating screening with standardized mesh sizes to ensure narrow size distribution (±5% tolerance).

Note: Adjust equipment parameters (e.g., crusher gaps, screen inclination) based on ore characteristics (e.g., hardness, clay content).

50TPH Garnet Crushing & Screening Process Plant

This is a complete set of 50TPH garnet crushing & screening process plant, mainly including 4 parts: feeding, crushing, screening, and re-screening.

Feeding

Firstly, the garnet ore is fed into the raw ore feeding hopper. There is a vibrating feeder under the hopper, which can feed material to the jaw crusher evenly and smoothly.

Crushing

The jaw crusher is a primary crushing machine. The output material will be conveyed to the next secondary cone crusher to get finer material, then it goes to the tertiary crushing machine, a double roller crusher. The output from the roller crusher will be conveyed to the vibrating screen.

Screening

Vibrating screen is a 3-layer screen with mesh size 4.5mm/12mm/25mm, under-screen material 0-4.5 mm goes to a linear vibrating screen for re-screening. Middle material 4.5-25 mm returns to the double roller crusher for crushing again. Over-screen +25 mm will convey back to the cone crusher.

Re-screening

The linear vibrating screen is a fine material screening machine. It has 2 layers(1 mm & 3 mm), which can screen out products 0-1 mm, 1-3 mm, 3-4.5 mm, as per the customer’s request.
