Advantages
The Pulp Density Scale is a laboratory instrument used to measure the density of pulp, liquids, or dry solid substances. It applies to industries like mining, construction, and material processing, ideal for mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, and slurry management industries.
With direct-read capabilities, the pulp density & specific gravity scale accelerates slurry density, liquid SG, and dry solids SG measurements while ensuring superior accuracy across a broad density range. Key applications include:
- Measuring sample weight (grams/kg)
- Determining liquid/pulp SG
- Calculating solids percentage at specified densities
- Assessing dry solids SG

This optimized design ensures effortless operation, minimal maintenance, and superior accuracy, making the Pulp Density Scale, such as the Marcy Scale, indispensable for mineral processing and lab applications.
Product Structure
The Pulp Density Specific Gravity Scales Consists Of:
- 3kg weighing device
- A measuring cylinder with a volume of 1 liter.
Working Principle of the Pulp Density Scale
The weighing mechanism of the pulp density scale consists of a pair of precision-calibrated springs. The top end of each spring is secured to a bracket using two M3 screws, while the lower end supports a hanging assembly. A measuring cylinder containing the slurry sample is suspended from the spring system via a load hook and frame.
When under load, the deformation of the weighing spring drives a mechanical linkage—comprising a rack frame, rack gear, and rotating shaft—which transmits this movement to a pointer. The pointer then displays the pulp density value on a specially calibrated scale.
The concentration measurement is based on a standardized 1 kg pulp volume. Consequently, any inaccuracies in the measuring cylinder’s volume directly impact the precision of the density readings.
